Al-Ittihad Al-Watani (L'Union Nationale) General Insurance Company for the Near East s.a.l. is a pioneer in the Lebanese insurance business. Founded in 1947 in Beirut, the company later expanded to cover other Arab countries.

Tannous Feghali, an insurance veteran, has been the head of the company since 1972. He is also the Chairman of 2 sister companies: La Phénicienne Insurance Co. & Leaders Insurance Co. Feghali was Chairman of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) from 1988 to 1992 and of the "Association des Compagnies d'Assurance au Liban" (ACAL) from 1983 to 1990 and from 1997 to 1999, as well as President of the General Arab Insurance Federation in 1993.
